Isn’t the image above and the poster below beautiful? Would you believe it was made out of garbage? I’m blown away by what the artist Vik Muniz, had created. Would you believe it was made out of garbage? Garbage or not, the art is still incredible.
In a quote from the Waste Land synopsis, “Muniz’s initial objective was to “paint” the catadores with garbage. However, his collaboration with these inspiring characters as they recreate photographic images of themselves out of garbage reveals both the dignity and despair of the catadores as they begin to re-imagine their lives.”
Not only, does the viewer get to see how the “Pictures of Garbage Series” was created, but the overall impact of art and the strength of the human spirit. It is an incredibly inspiring and touching documentary, I highly recommend it.
